Surat International Airport (STV) is located about 11–15 km from the city centre. There are regular direct flights to Surat from major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata (subject to seasonal schedules). Flights are generally the fastest way to reach Surat and take around 1–2 hours from most metro cities. The airport operates 24×7, enhancing flexibility for flight schedules.
Surat Railway Station (code: ST) is a major junction on the Western Railway network, well connected to many cities across India. Frequent trains run to/from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Delhi, and other major hubs. From Mumbai (approx. 250–260 km), the journey by train takes around 3–5 hours depending on the train (e.g., Flying Ranee or Bandra Terminus–Surat Intercity). Trains from Kolkata (and other eastern cities) usually involve connections via major junctions like Vadodara or Ahmedabad but direct long-distance trains also run periodically.
Surat has good road connectivity via national highways: NH-48 links Surat with Mumbai and Ahmedabad. NH-6 connects towards the east, passing through states like Maharashtra and heading toward Kolkata. Typical travel times by car/bus: Mumbai → Surat: ~5–6 hours by road (~260–270 km). Ahmedabad → Surat: ~4–5 hours (~250–270 km). Longer road trips from states farther east or north will take more time and are best planned with rest stops.
