The sacred Banganga-Narmada confluence is located in the small village of Bhedaghat. The name Bhedaghat comes from the word "bheda" which the local people associate with the existence of sangam (confluence). For many years, the location served as a sacred site for various rites. It was formerly called Bhairava ghati and served as a tantrik peeth. According to legend, this is where the well-known sage Bhrigu spent many years worshipping Lord Shiva.
Dhuadhar Falls is not only in Jabalpur but it is an important place of tourism in whole of Madhya Pradesh. The shade of this fall falling from a height of 10 meters is unique. It originates from Narmada river. This picturesque episode comes out of the famous marble rocks. When this fall falls along the big stream, the sound of falling water is heard from far away. By falling from this fall, it becomes a place to smoke or smoke. Therefore it is called Smokhindhra Waterfall. Dhuadhar waterfall is an extraordinary place in terms of beauty, due to which large number of tourists visit this year. This place is also ideal for celebrating a picnic with friends and family. There is a large open space in front of the waterfall. Located 25 km from Jabalpur city, this waterfall is a popular tourist destination due to its charming beauty.
Dumna Nature Reserve Park is a place to get in the lap of nature in Jabalpur. The Khandari Dam, located 10 km from Jabalpur, is close to the nature reserve, and spreads over an area of 1058 hectares. Travellers adore spending time in the area to see wild creatures in their natural surroundings. Dumna National Reserve Park continues to flourish throughout the year, but you can preferably visit during monsoon season to witness lush green surroundings.
Bargi Dham of Jabalpur is an important dam out of 30 Dams on the river Narmada. The importance of this Dam also increases because it is a major source of water supply in Jabalpur and the surrounding areas. Bargi Divarshan Project and Rani Avantibai Lodhi Sagar Project are two important irrigation projects developed on this Dam. Over time, Bargi Dame has developed into a significant tourist center of Jabalpur. The Madhya Pradesh government has also taken considerable initiative in this direction. The government has opened a resort here, the front of which is towards Dam. This resort offers an unusual view of Dam and reservoir. There is also a boat ride, fishing, water scooters, etc., which makes Bargi Dam’s journey even more enjoyable. Not only this, many birds can also be seen in the vicinity of Dam, including Mena, Paratha, Saras, Pigeon and Local Kali Gauriya.
The Kachnar City is well known for the tourist attraction and religious destination for the locals and the people from abroad because of the tallest statue of Lord Shiva which was build in the year 2004 and was made available for the public, tourists and the devotees from 15 February 2006.The statue measured around 76 feet tall equivalent to 23 meters, build under the open-sky on the cavern which has the replicas of the lingam (Shiva Lingam) called the “Jyotirlinga”. There is about 12 Jyotirlinga in the caverns on which the Lord Shiva’s idol is built. These 12 Lingam has been collected from various shrines of Lord Shiva throughout the country.
Madan Mahal Fort in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, stands as testimony to the lives of the rulers who ruled Jabalpur for a good number of years in the 11th century AD. Situated at a hilltop, a couple of kilometres away from the city, Madan Mahal Fort was built by the Raja Madan Singh. The fort is also associated with the king’s mother, Rani Durgavati, who happened to be a valiant Gond ruler of the place.
